Mr. Swanner began his work in the area of crash investigation in November 2011 when he graduated Trooper School and was assigned to the Georgia State Patrol (GSP) Post #4-Villa Rica. While posted at Villa Rica, Mr. Swanner completed crash reconstruction levels 1-5. Mr. Swanner was assigned to Post #4-Villa Rica until September 2014 when he was selected for the GSP Specialized Collision Reconstruction Team (SCRT) for Troop G. While on SCRT, Mr. Swanner was tasked with assisting fellow Troopers with crash investigations and reconstructions.
Assisting fellow Troopers ranged from photographing the crash scene to speed calculations to conducting Airbag Control Modules. Also part of Mr. Swanner's role of SCRT was court room testimony. Mr. Swanner has been qualified as an expert witness in courts in the area of crash investigation and reconstruction.
As stated above, Mr. Swanner completed Crash Reconstruction levels 1-5 while still posted at Post #4-Villa Rica. Having these courses were a prerequisite to be able to apply for SCRT. Additional Certifications that Mr. Swanner has obtained includes:
